Local attractions and Accommodation

If you like wandering around old towns, discovering odd little yards, catching a whiff of freshly made bread and meeting warm, friendly people, you will enjoy Wirksworth.

An image of Wirksworth: looking westward from Stoney Hill Lane, Bolehill:

“...situated in a very fine valley, bounded every way by high hills... the road (Oakerthorpe Turnpike) leads on the edge of a precipice which commands the valley in a most romantic manner. You look immediately down on a fine variety of inclosures, trees, houses, rocks, lead mines, all in picturesque confusion (Arthur Young, 1771).
