The Mayor of Wirksworth, Councillor Andy Pollock, summoned the Wapentake

at a ceremony on Saturday the 29th March at

2.00pm at the Great West Door of St Mary’s Church, Wirksworth.

Saturday 26th July

National Stone Centre

12.00 noon to 5.00 pm.

Day tickets £5.00 per person. Children 14 and under free

From 12.00 noon Living History Encampment

1.00 pm Arming the Warrior

2.00 pm Archery Tournament

3.00 pm Battle

4.00 pm Military Games

5.00 pm Close

 

 

Saturday 26th July

National Stone Centre

7.00 pm to 10.00 pm

Evening tickets £4.00 per person. Children 14 and under free

Combined day and evening ticket £8.00. Children 14 and under free

 

  

 

Boat Burning at Wirksworth Great moot Field 26th July 2008

8.30 pm Preparations for procession

9.00 pm Torchlight procession

9.30 am to 1.00 pm

9.30 am A Wapentake service at St Mary’s Church,

Short break after the service

11.15 Army assembles in St Mary’s Churchyard

11.30 am The Wapentake Procession

St Mary’s Churchyard to the Memorial Gardens

12.00 noon The meeting of the Wapentake: Memorial Gardens

The hailing of the Aeldorman and inspection of weapons

1.00 pm Army leaves for Great Moot Field

 

 

 

Sunday 27th July

10.30 am to 4.30 pm

Saxon-Viking Battle at Wirksworth Great Moot Field

 

From 10.30 am Living History Encampment
